Founder of Judo
Founded in 1882 by Dr. Jigoro Kano, Judo is a refinement of the ancient martial art of Jujitsu.
Judo appeals to all people in life, whether they be 5 or 50 years old! To practice Judo is to learn self discipline for yourself and for others. Judo can be a fun sport, a discipline or a recreational activity. Judo can be developed as a means of self-defence and/or a way of life.
People practice Judo to excel in competition, to stay in shape, to develop self-confidence, and for many other reasons. But most of all, people do Judo just for the fun of it.
Judo provides the means for learning self-confidence, concentration, and leadership skills, as well as physical coordination, power, and flexibility.
Judo is an Olympic sport where you can see spectacular throws, holds, armlocks and strangles.
